To adjust the travel of the handbrake lever on a Ford Focus, start by releasing the handbrake; stay inside the cabin, remove the lever gaiter by disengaging the rear tab from the front, lift the gaiter of the handbrake lever, and remove the clip on the handbrake cable; now, using a 10mm spanner, loosen or tighten the nut on the cable to adjust the tension; once you have tightened or loosened the nut, test the lever until it clicks correctly, then refit the tab and replace the handbrake lever gaiter.
