How to Eliminate the Annoying Ignition Beep

If you own a Honda Civic, this guide will be useful as it illustrates the procedure to eliminate the noise caused by the "beep" that occurs when the key is placed in the ignition switch in the "on" position. First, access the black box located behind the panel on the left side of the steering wheel. To do this, remove the two 10 mm bolts securing the panel. Once you locate the black box, extract it by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place. Open the box by disengaging the closing clips. Remove the circuit board using the tip of a small flat screwdriver. Now, you need to extract the black circular piece located at one corner of the circuit board (responsible for the noise we want to eliminate). To do this, you will need to desolder the two clips that hold it from the back of the board. Once this small piece is removed, you will no longer hear the annoying and prolonged "beep" when starting your vehicle.
