To replace the key fob battery in a Honda Civic, take the fob and locate the mechanical key release button. Press the button and extract the emergency key from the fob. Insert the tip of the key into the side slot of the casing and lever it open to separate the two halves of the shell. Once opened, locate the button cell battery inside the compartment. Remove it from its holder and insert a new battery of the same type, ensuring the correct polarity is observed. Close the shell by pressing the two parts together until fully engaged and reinsert the mechanical key into its holder.
