What are the buttons on the Hyundai Ioniq 9's headliner for, which are located in front of the driver and front passenger? They are integrated microphones in the car's interior ceiling, and they are used to cancel out noise (Active Noise Cancellation) ANC. The microphones pick up internal noises, such as aerodynamic noise or tire rolling; they analyze the frequencies of the noises. The system emits sound waves in opposite phase so that the noises are canceled out before reaching the occupants' ears. This way, low-frequency noises are reduced, promoting conversation, audio experience, and driving relaxation. The principle is the same as noise-canceling headphones we use on airplanes, but for the entire cabin.
