How to remove the chrome trim from the Infiniti Q50 with DIY black vinyl.

To remove the chrome effect from the window trims of the Infiniti Q50, a black adhesive film is used, applied directly onto the moldings. After parking the car in the garage, the chrome edges around the windows are carefully cleaned using a degreaser and a soft cloth to eliminate dirt and residues that could compromise adhesion.

A strip of film is then prepared, long enough to cover the section of molding that needs to be wrapped, cutting it from the roll on a work table. The film is placed on the molding starting from one end, first adhering the inner edge near the glass and then the rest of the profile, using fingers and a small plastic spatula to eliminate air bubbles and wrinkles.

In curved areas or around the pillars, patience is required, guiding the material along the edges and pressing firmly into the recesses. The excess is trimmed with a sharp utility knife placed directly on the profile, making light and controlled cuts to avoid damaging the paint.

The same procedure is repeated for all segments of the moldings: straight piece on the front door, curve above the central pillar, rear sections, and the outline of the small fixed glass. Each time, after cutting, the spatula and fingers are used along the edges to seal the film well against the underlying chrome.

Once the work is completed, the entire window trim of the Infiniti Q50 appears uniformly black, achieving the effect without removing the original profiles.
