Resetting Service Indicator for Upcoming Service (On-Board Computer Registration)

Model: Jeep Cherokee XJ, MK 2 - Years 1984-2001

The service reset procedure is manual and does not require any diagnostic tools. Near the overhead light, where the rear-view mirror is located, there are four buttons: the ones to use for the reset are "RESET" and "STEP".
To perform the reset:
1. Turn on the ignition.
2. Press the "STEP" button until the maintenance interval is displayed.
3. Press and hold the "RESET" button until the SERVICE indicator on the instrument cluster display resets.
4. At this point, turn off the ignition and wait a few minutes for the memory to save.
After the procedure, turn the ignition back on and check that the SERVICE indicator is off.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
