How to deactivate the immobiliser on a Jeep Grand Cherokee?

To deactivate the immobiliser on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, first disconnect the cables and loosen the battery screws so that the battery can be removed from its housing in the engine bay. After the device has been removed, enter the cabin and unscrew the screws that secure the plastic covers around the steering column: the device will be located at the bottom and must be disconnected from its power cables and removed from its housing. After removal, reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition, checking that the immobiliser is deactivated.
