This guide describes how to replace the engine oil and oil filter on a KTM Duke 390. Obtain 2 litres of Motul 7100 SAE 10W40 oil and an HIFLO HF155 oil filter. Position the motorcycle on its side stand. Start the engine, allow it to reach temperature, and then switch off. Use a ratchet and a 10mm socket to remove the screws from the engine fairing (nose). Place a container for the used oil underneath the engine. Use a ratchet and a 17mm socket to remove the oil drain plug located under the engine casing on the left side. Allow the oil to drain and clean the plug thoroughly. With a ratchet and a 10mm socket, remove the two side screws from the oil filter cover located under the casing on the right side. Extract the filter cartridge and replace the cover gasket. Refit the oil filter cover and the oil drain plug. Reattach the nose. Open the oil filler cap located on the right side of the casing. Pour in the oil, referring to the inspection hole at the bottom of the casing. Start the engine for one minute and then switch off. Check the oil level again.
