As you may already know, changing the oil is easier when the engine and the circulating lubricant are warm. That said, be careful not to burn yourself. You will need 1.2 litres of synthetic oil for engines 10W-50. Before unscrewing the bolt that acts as a plug for the drain hole, you must unscrew the screws of the only protective plastic cover located under the engine bay. Once removed, clear the drain hole as shown in the video, and while collecting the used oil in a container, unscrew and remove the two oil filters, then insert the new ones you have purchased. Fill with new oil through the upper hole.

How to Remove the Final Drive from a BMW R 1200 GS?

To remove the final drive from a BMW R 1200 GS, loosen the bolts securing the exhaust so it can be removed along with the rear wheel. The rear wheel will also be removed by unscrewing the five bolts that secure it to the swingarm. Next, detach the brake caliper by unscrewing the mounting bolts and remove the rear part of the swingarm. Inside, you will find the final drive, which should be extracted and replaced with a new spare part; after replacement, reassemble all previously removed components.
