Here are the main steps for performing routine maintenance by changing the engine oil and oil filter on the KTM XC 250, as well as the XC 300. First, remove the oil drain bolt located under the engine using a socket spanner; allow the old oil to drain into a container for about ten minutes. Next, unscrew the screws of the oil filter cover, removing and replacing the filter with a new one; finally, unscrew the filler cap to pour in the new engine oil of the correct type.
