How to Remove the Shock Absorber Spring on a Lada Niva

In this tutorial, you will see how to remove the shock absorber spring on a Lada Niva by following some simple steps: first, lift the car with a hydraulic jack and place safety stands. Remove the wheel from its hub (place the wheel under the vehicle for added safety during the job). Remove the stabiliser bar; place a jack underneath to assist with the operation. Next, unscrew the 17 mm nut of the shock absorber (use two 17 mm spanners); once done, the lower part will be held only by the jack. Carefully position the supports (see video) to keep the spring under tension (be careful not to let the spring escape, as it could injure you; it is dangerous). Once the supports are in place on the spring, tighten them to maintain tension; when you remove the jack, the lower part will drop to the ground, making it easier to extract the spring. For the shock absorber, once the 17 mm bolts are removed, simply lift it slightly with a screwdriver, and it will come out of its housing.
