Timing Belt Replacement

Model: Lexus IS MK 1 - Years 1998-2005
Part: Timing belt

Replacing the timing belt requires a certain knowledge of mechanics, as it is essential to maintain the timing references during disassembly and reassembly. In the case of the vehicle in question, the toothed belt also drives the water pump, so it is advisable to replace this as well. Start by draining the coolant, removing the timing belt covers, the radiator assembly, the auxiliary belt, and the crankshaft pulley. Then align the timing references and proceed with the removal of the tensioner and the water pump; install the new one with the respective gaskets and also replace the tensioner, idler bearing, and thermostat; apply the new belt and reinstall everything previously removed, also replacing the auxiliary belt.
