How to Repair the Headlight Pivot on the Lotus Elan

Model: Lotus Elan M100 - Years 1989-1995

This is a very delicate mechanism; the headlight may not align, be wobbly, or get stuck. As shown in the video, first disconnect the battery. Manually unlock the mechanism by turning the screw counterclockwise, then disconnect the flexible shaft (the one coming from the engine), disconnect the electrical connector, and loosen the three headlight adjustment screws. Be careful with the return springs (which allow alignment): it is not necessary to remove them completely, just loosen them enough to allow the headlight to move. Rotate the headlight upwards and remove it from its housing; clean the screw and its gear in the box with solvent and lubricate it with an appropriate product (like WD-40 high-performance grease, which can be found on Amazon for £12.99, with free delivery in 1 day for Prime customers).
