If the steering becomes stiff, making it particularly heavy to turn, the first thing to check is the oil level in the power steering reservoir: this reservoir is located near the windscreen washer fluid tank; open the cap and check the oil level inside, and if necessary, top up to the maximum level using a specific hydraulic power steering oil. After topping up, verify the steering efficiency.

It is also advisable to check for any leaks in the system.
