Instructions for Replacing the Driveshaft

If you hear a noise like a CLUNK coming from the wheel, especially when steering, it means that a CV joint of the driveshaft connecting the gearbox to the wheel has failed. To replace it, the first step is to loosen the nut at the centre of the hub before lifting the vehicle. After that, lift the vehicle, remove the wheel, the track rod end from the steering rack, the drop link, and the wishbone ball joint to free the hub and extract the driveshaft from the hub itself. At this point, you need to extract the joint from the gearbox side, which is secured by a tight fit, so you must tap it out carefully.
