Removing the EGR valve from a Mercedes R-Class? Let's look at removing the damaged EGR valve. Lift the front bonnet and secure it. Remove the engine cover plastics (engine cover panel). Use a socket spanner to undo the securing bolts above the metal part of the EGR valve, disconnect and move the electrical connectors. Fit the new EGR valve in the engine bay (tighten the securing screws). Refit the engine cover plastics. Test the operation of the EGR valve. Start the engine and check its function. Clean the EGR valve or replace it with a new one.
