Video tutorial

This video is dedicated only to Mercedes A-Class W176 with a 200 engine: if your engine is a 180, this guide is not suitable. Open the hood and detach the engine cover; there are 4 screws securing the tube; remove them with an 8 mm socket and take off the tube: you will find the EGR duct.

Spray the degreaser inside and remove the deposits using a cloth wrapped around a screwdriver; then vacuum to remove the residues. Pay attention to the green gasket present on the tube.

Allow the duct to dry thoroughly (the video suggests reassembling the next day) and then reattach the tube with the 4 screws and reposition the engine cover. The video recommends using Bardahl Top Diesel additive, which protects the entire diesel engine, extending the cleanliness of the ducts.

You can find it on Amazon with the code B00TH3UE0C for $13.90, with free shipping for Prime customers. The ducts are cleaned, not the EGR valve, because the valve is in a hard-to-reach position and requires disassembling other components to access it. Cleaning the duct is still useful, as it removes a significant amount of carbon deposits and improves airflow.

How to Activate the Disabled TRC on the Toyota Yaris?

As the video clearly shows, disabling or activating the traction control (TRC or ESP) on the Toyota Yaris is very simple. By default, the traction system activates every time the vehicle is started. To disable it, simply press the button depicting a skidding car located in the centre of the vehicle where the controls are, such as the hazard lights and the radio, but near the handbrake. Once disabled, the TRC off light will illuminate on the dashboard. To reactivate it, just press the same button again.
