- Years 2000-2007 Replacing the timing belt is a very delicate operation, recommended only for experts. Obtain the vehicle maintenance manual, replacement belts, tensioner wheels, tensioners, belt assembly diagram and special tools. Begin to remove the cover which must be removed. With the help of a fixed wrench and the special tool, lock the pulley and loosen the belt tensioner. By levering the belt tensioner, loosen the tension to remove the belt. Remove the bolts of the two belt tensioner supports and take them off. Replace the pulleys and tensioners with new ones, making sure to reassemble all parts correctly. Fit the tensioners and new belts following the assembly diagram. Refit the casing.
