Instructions for Removing the Torque Splitter

Model: Mercedes Classe M W163 - Years 1997-2005

The torque splitter is located along the transmission, approximately in the centre of the vehicle, corresponding to the central torsion bar (it is advisable to lift the vehicle on a ramp to perform this operation, however, it is high enough to work on it at ground level): start by removing the bar itself by unscrewing the relevant fixing pins; disconnect the transmission from the splitter flanges by unscrewing the relevant fixing pins; then move on to the fixing pins of the splitter itself to the gearbox: it is recommended to support the splitter with a jack during the disassembly phase.
