Replacing the Exhaust Manifold Gasket

Model: Mercedes Classe C W202 - Years 1993-2000

Before installing the new exhaust manifold gasket, clean the seating area thoroughly on both the manifold and cylinder head sides, removing any dirt and buildup that could compromise the gasket's adhesion and seal. Next, check that the exhaust manifold has not warped and that all ports are perfectly aligned on the same plane: place a straight edge across the ports and ensure they all touch evenly without any gaps (use a feeler gauge). Finally, position the new gasket and the manifold, tightening the respective mounting nuts with a torque wrench.
