Shock Absorber Replacement and Suspension Maintenance

Model: Mercedes Classe A W168 - Years 1997-2004

This replacement is not too difficult even if you don't have a lift to raise the car. Start by removing the protective panel underneath by unscrewing the various bolts. Now, unscrew the bolt that secures the bottom of the shock absorber to the hub, and relieve the pressure from the shock absorber using a jack. Next, remove the spring. Unscrew the bushing that held the spring, and by removing the additional bolt that secures the suspension, you can take out the shock absorber. Insert the new shock absorber and retrace all the previous steps to reassemble the suspension.
