The "comfort access" function on the Mini Cooper from 2009 onwards

The described function allows you to leave the engine running while you close and lock the car, without leaving the key inside. Start the vehicle's engine, then turn it off. Remove the key from inside the vehicle. Without opening the door, within 10 seconds, press the START button again. The engine restarts, but without the key physically inside the car. The purpose is to heat or cool the cabin safely, leaving the engine running and locking the doors with the remote while stepping away. Upon your return, unlock the doors and find the desired temperature. Another application is for quick stops: leave the vehicle running but safely for a brief pause. For the system to work, it is essential not to open the door after removing the key; otherwise, the procedure will not function.
