Controls for Headlights, Main Beam, and Fog Lights on a Mini Cooper

Model: Mini Mini F55, F56, F57, F54 - Years 2014-2023
Part: Headlight

The light controls on the Mini Cooper are located on the left stalk behind the steering wheel. On the head of the stalk, there is a dial: "0" for all off; 1 notch: position lights; 2 notches for dipped beam. To activate the main beam, push the entire stalk forward (towards the dashboard): a blue warning light will illuminate on the dashboard. To turn them off, pull the stalk towards you. To "flash" the lights, pull the stalk briefly towards you (used for signalling). The fog light button is usually located on the central console or below the climate control, not on the stalk. In the video, the model has a toggle switch at the bottom of the dashboard. The rear fog light is the only one required by law. When activated, an orange warning light will illuminate on the dashboard.

To perform this operation, release the bonnet using the lever and lift it to secure it with the prop rod. Then disconnect the battery terminals to protect any sensitive circuits. Locate the hook, which when rotated allows you to extract the headlamp. After removing the last bolts, you can take out the headlamp from its position and also disconnect the connectors at the back to completely remove it, allowing you to proceed with replacing the necessary components. Retrace the steps described for reassembly.
