How to Reset the Service Light on a 2004 Mini Cooper

Learn how to reset the service light on a 2004 Mini Cooper R50/R53. Turn the key to position 1, and you will see the display show "oil service" or "inspection", along with the remaining distance and days. Press and hold the button located on the speedometer to the left (this is the button used to reset the trip odometer). Turn the key to position 2, with the ignition on and the engine off: you will see a needle move on the display, and you must wait for it to complete the cycle (about 5 seconds). Now release the speedometer. The message "oil service" or "inspection" should show the distance for the new service or the number of days (365).
