Replacing the Engine Air Filter

Model: Mini Mini R55, R57, R56 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Air filter

If you own a Mini Cooper and want to replace the engine air filter, perform the following steps: disconnect the mass air flow sensor connection. Loosen the clamp and detach the air hose, then unscrew and remove the bolts securing the air box cover; lift it off and take out the old filter. Take a new one and compare them. Position the new filter in its housing, ensuring it is placed in the same position as before. Close the air box and reassemble everything as it was, reversing the disassembly steps.

It is well known that this device can be faulty, starting with vibrations in the steering wheel and potentially leading to total deactivation with the corresponding warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The fault is often due to wear on the torque sensor integrated within the steering system, but failures related to the control unit are not uncommon. To resolve this issue, it is advisable to have a refurbished power steering unit installed, fully covered by warranty.
