As shown in this tutorial, replacing the gear knob in a Mini Cooper is a very simple and quick task. First, disengage the base of the gaiter and pull it completely upwards, then grasp the knob and, by rotating and pulling, remove it from the gear stick. Once removed, separate it from the gaiter by unscrewing the plastic ring, as shown in the video. At this point, insert the new knob into the old gaiter and join the two elements with a simple plastic tie. Finally, refit everything onto the gear lever.
