To replace the timing chain on the Mini R56, open the bonnet to access the left side of the engine block. Here, there will be a protective panel around the sprockets where the timing chain is located: by removing this panel and loosening the central nuts of the sprockets, you can reduce the tension on the chain and slide it out of its housing. Once the old chain is removed, you can insert a new one by reassembling all the components that were previously removed.
