Replacing Rear Brake Shoes

Model: Nissan Micra K11 - Years 1992-2002

Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands and remove the rear wheel. Use a hammer to gently tap the drum off the hub and similarly remove the protective cap from the hub's retaining nut. At this point, unscrew the nut and remove the hub. Clean the shoes and drum with compressed air and proceed to remove the shoes by taking out the locating pins and springs; the springs must be fitted to the new shoes. Position the new shoes in their place, attaching the handbrake cable and inserting the locating pins for fixing. Refit the hub, securely tighten the retaining nut, adjust the shoe opening using the appropriate screw, and reattach the drum, ensuring it rotates freely. Use a punch to secure the nut to prevent it from loosening accidentally and refit the cap and wheel.
