To replace the timing chain on an Opel Astra, lift the car so that the front right wheel is off the ground. Remove the wheel by loosening the bolts that secure it and also remove the corresponding wheel arch liner.

This will provide access to the chain tensioner: unscrew the bolts securing it to completely extract the tensioner and reduce the tension on the belt. The belt can now be removed from its housing and replaced with a new part.
