How to replace the driveshaft on the Opel Signum DIY

Model: Vauxhall Signum MK 1 - Years 2003-2008

Secure the OPEL Signum on axle stands, loosen the hub nut with the wheel on the ground, then lift the affected side and remove the wheel. Support the hub to avoid loading the joints, then free the necessary suspension fixings (for example, the ball joint on the hub or the clamp bracket, depending on the configuration) to slide the outer end of the shaft out of the hub. On the gearbox side, extract the inner end by carefully prying near the gearbox to overcome the retaining ring of the differential; avoid damaging the differential oil seal. Compare the replacement part with the removed piece (length, number of splines, diameters, position of the gaiter grooves). For installation, insert the inner end into the differential until you feel the complete engagement of the retaining ring, then position the outer end in the hub. Restore the suspension fixings in the reverse order of disassembly and tighten the hub nut as specified by the manufacturer. Refit the wheel, lower the vehicle, and complete the tightening.
