Video tutorial
The video demonstrates the oil change and maintenance indicator reset on a 2015 Opel Adam 1.2 petrol. You will need: ramps, rags, ratchet, 24 mm socket, Torx 34, new drain plug and gasket, oil filter (code 1612), and oil with Opel specification 5W30 (or 0W30). First, warm the engine to 90°C: warm oil is more fluid and drains better. Open the filler cap to avoid a vacuum. Lift the car and locate the drain plug under the sump. Unscrew the plug with a Torx 34, being careful as the oil is hot. Replace the drain plug with a new one (gasket included). While the oil drains, replace the oil filter (on the right side of the engine): unscrew the cover with a 24 mm socket. Remove the old filter, replace the gasket (provided in the kit), and clean the seating. Insert the new filter, screw the cover on to 25 Nm (by hand only, do not overtighten). Refit the drain plug and tighten to 14 Nm. Pour in approximately 3.8 litres of oil (the manufacturer indicates 4, but 200 ml always remains in the engine). Check with the dipstick: the level should be just below maximum. Start the engine to circulate the oil, turn off, wait, and recheck the level, topping up if necessary. Finally, reset the indicator: turn on the ignition, press the menu button on the left stalk until the car symbol appears, press SET, confirm with "Yes" and the percentage returns to 100%.
