Repairing Belt Tensioner Noise on an Opel Corsa

If your car is making a strange noise under the bonnet, before considering more serious damage, ensure that this is not the only issue, as it is quite common. Disconnect the battery as you will be working near the alternator. Use a spanner to loosen the belt tensioner to remove the timing belt. Remove the connectors from the power supply and unbolt the supports anchoring it to the engine, then remove it by sliding it out from below. Secure it in a vice, remove the cover and undo the central bolt that holds it in place. Now you can replace the damaged part that is causing the noise.
