Replacing the Gear Knob

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006

To remove the gear knob, pull it upwards. Next, remove the trim plastics located just below the gaiter along the centre tunnel to access and replace the gaiter itself with a new one. Installing the new gaiter is straightforward as it is secured to the plastic frame with a specific clip: once this is released, you can remove the old gaiter and fit the new one. Finally, reassemble all the previously removed plastic trim parts and fit the new knob by pushing it onto the lever (protect it with a cloth and tap it in with a rubber mallet).
