Replacement of Valve Lifters

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006

In the engine of the vehicle in question, the valve operation is performed through so-called lifters actuated by the camshaft: the continuous rubbing of the cams on the top of the lifters tends to wear them out, and therefore they must be replaced. Lubricate the lifter seats generously and insert the new ones; lubricate the camshaft housings and the respective mounting brackets to install them by tightening the pins with a torque wrench according to a cross pattern. Then install the camshaft oil seals with the lip facing inwards before securing the timing pulleys; align the timing marks and finally insert the timing belt.
