The Peugeot 308, in its plug-in hybrid version, is equipped with a regenerative braking system that allows to recover the kinetic energy that would normally be lost during deceleration and braking, converting it into electrical energy to recharge the high-voltage battery of the vehicle. When the driver releases the accelerator pedal or brakes, the electric motor acts as a generator, slowing down the vehicle and producing electricity; this process helps reduce the wear of the mechanical brakes and increase the electric range of the vehicle. The intensity of this braking can be increased by activating the "Brake" function, and it may be sufficient to slow down the vehicle without having to use the brake pedal.
