How the 3D Instrument Cluster Works on the Peugeot 308

The Peugeot 308 does not feature a true 3D oleogram but rather an optical-mechatronic system: it has a traditional LCD panel and a second transparent screen, mounted slightly forward. The "projector" mentioned in the video is actually a DLP (Digital Light Processing) LED projector located at the top of the dashboard. This projector casts an image onto the front transparent screen. The 3D effect is achieved because the two screens (the rear LCD and the front transparent one) work together, but with a physical distance of about 8-10 mm between them. Level 1 (rear) displays "static" information (speed, rev counter, fuel level) in traditional 2D, while Level 2 (projected front) shows "dynamic" information (indicators, navigation, alerts) with greater depth. When the two levels overlap optically, the brain perceives the difference in distance and creates the illusion of 3D depth, similar to passive 3D glasses but without glasses, as the parallax is created by physics, not electronics.
