The recirculation function prevents outside air from entering the cabin. In other words, with recirculation activated, the fan circulates the same air within the cabin, without drawing in new air from the outside environment. Consequently, recirculation not only temporarily blocks the influx of heavily polluted outside air (for example, when driving in a poorly ventilated tunnel, behind an old diesel, a non-catalytic petrol vehicle, or behind the exhaust of an oil-burning engine), but also helps to reach the desired temperature more quickly when it is very hot or very cold outside the vehicle. The video shows the operation of the opening and closing system of the air ducts for the influx of outside air located behind the centre console.
