How to Replace the Timing Belt on the Peugeot 208

Here’s how to replace the timing belt on the Peugeot 208, taking care to manage the various operations as the task is quite complicated. First, lift the car and then remove the right wheel and the inner wheel arch cover. Next, remove the engine mount on the right side and proceed to take off the upper timing belt cover, then loosen and unscrew the bolts of the lower cover. Use a hoist to lower the engine, remove the auxiliary belt by loosening the tensioner. Then, unscrew the bolts securing the central tensioner and remove the crankshaft pulley. Be careful to mark the relative positions of the pulleys with a pin or marker to avoid losing the timing and synchronisation of the engine. Next, remove the last lower protective cover of the belt and proceed to remove the water pump along with its pulley, at which point you can slide off the belt.
