Where to Find the Legal VIN on a Peugeot 206

In this video, find out where to locate the legal Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a Peugeot 206. The legal VIN is not the one found on the plate located on the driver's side of the windscreen. That plate is called the "courtesy plate" and is only used until the vehicle is registered for various movements. It is also not the metal plate found on the driver's door frame: that is the plate used by the factory when the vehicle leaves production. The legal VIN is actually stamped onto the chassis with punches, and for our vehicle, it is located on the rear door frame on the passenger side.
