Disassembly and Repair of the Armrest on a Renault Trafic

In this video, learn how to repair the armrest on a Renault Trafic, which does not lock in position and falls forward. There are indeed locking hooks and adjustment mechanisms that are broken. For the repair, you will need a cross screwdriver, a drill with a 2.5mm bit, a self-tapping wood screw of the same diameter, plastic glue, and foam. Start by disassembling the armrest by removing the fabric cover, which is glued and requires some delicacy. Unscrew the 4 side screws and the central one. This way, you will see that the locking hooks are broken, as they usually break at the base, and the lever that adjusts the tilt is fragile. You will need to create a manual stop, marking the desired 90° position; drill the plastic with the drill, and screw in the self-tapping screw to create the new "stop". Apply plastic glue to the cracks before assembling, then fill the void with foam to restore rigidity, and then reposition the fabric cover. To avoid future damage, it is advisable not to force too much on the armrest and periodically lubricate the mechanisms with silicone spray.
