AdBlue Issues That May Occur on Renault Vehicles

On Renault vehicles, including newer models, these AdBlue errors can easily occur: warning light on with no obvious error codes in the ECU; messages such as "start impossible in X miles" or "pollution control system fault"; diagnostics showing no fault codes in either the engine ECU or AdBlue control unit. This happens due to a bug in the AdBlue system software or NOx sensors sending incorrect signals to the control unit. The first step is to perform a software update at a Renault workshop, which corrects the AdBlue control algorithms and resolves false positives. As a temporary measure, you can manually reset by turning off the vehicle and waiting 10 minutes, then driving about 12 miles on extra-urban roads to regenerate the system. If the mechanic suggests replacing the tank immediately, always request a software update first, as this often resolves the issue!
