How to Solve the Cooling Fan Noise Issue on Renault Espace IV

Learn how to resolve the screeching noise, especially when the engine is cold, on a Renault Espace IV: the fan motor has axial play, indicating wear in the bearing or the internal bushing of the electric motor. What we see in the video is not a permanent repair, but a workaround to reduce the noise for a while: the idea is to inject thick grease into the motor to lubricate the worn bushing. The fan motor has an adhesive tab, and by removing it, we find a small factory hole through which we can push a generous amount of thick grease into the motor, in the area of the bushing, using the nozzle of the tube. While injecting, it is helpful to manually spin the fan impeller to help the grease penetrate and distribute evenly. Once filled, seal the hole well with strong adhesive tape to prevent dust and dirt from entering. The noise disappears or is drastically reduced, but the mechanical play remains. It is a temporary solution; the wear is physical, and sooner or later the noise will return, and in extreme cases, the fan motor may seize, so it is advisable to plan for the replacement of the fan to resolve the issue at its root.
