How to Remove the Battery on Renault Trafic, Opel Vivaro, Nissan Primastar

The battery location on the Renault Trafic (and consequently on the Opel Vivaro and Nissan Primastar) is unusual: it is actually located inside the cabin, under the driver's seat (left-hand drive). We need to remove the mat, and underneath it, we will find a rectangular panel secured with 4 screws. First, disconnect the negative terminal, then the positive terminal. At this point, using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the locking bracket located on the side screw, engine side; be careful as the nut underneath, trapped in the plastic of the floor, may spin freely. If it does spin, gently break the surrounding plastic with a screwdriver and a hammer. Then, hold the nut with pliers to unscrew the screw from above. You can now extract the battery, although it is quite heavy and in an awkward position.
