How to Change the Front Brake Pads on a Renault Clio MK3
Model: Renault Clio
- Years 2005-2013
To replace the front brake pads on a Renault Clio MK3, you will need 13 mm and 15 mm socket and combination spanners, a torque wrench, a flat screwdriver, a wire brush, and copper grease. Open the bonnet and unscrew the cap of the brake fluid reservoir to prevent spillage when pushing back the piston. Slightly loosen the wheel bolts, lift the car, place it on axle stands, and remove the wheel. Using a flat screwdriver, lever the outer pad to push back the caliper piston. Unscrew the two bolts securing the caliper (13 mm spanner, holding the pin with a 15 mm spanner). Do not let the caliper hang from the brake hose: suspend it with a wire to the suspension. Remove the old pads and anti-noise shims. Clean the bracket and guides with the wire brush. Apply copper grease to the edges of the new pads and the shims. Insert them into the bracket with the friction material facing the disc. Refit the caliper and tighten the bolts to 32 Nm. Refit the wheel and tighten in a criss-cross pattern. Lower the car. Before driving, press the brake pedal several times to bring the piston back into contact with the pads. Recheck the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.
