Raise the car on suitable car stands, intercept the gearbox oil drain plug and unscrew it after having positioned a tray for collecting used oil in correspondence. Clean the cap of any metal dust residues, apply a new gasket and tighten it. Then proceed to fill with new oil which is suggested to be carried out from the engine compartment by applying a tube to a funnel and then inserting it into the gearbox hole: the oil is level when it starts to come out of the filling hole. Finally, apply and tighten the cap. You will immediately notice a lower noise and a softer engagement of the gears.

Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD gearbox oil replacement

Let's see in this guide the main steps to be able to change the transmission oil of the second series Fiat Ducato, with 2.8 JTD engine. First of all we lift the car and go to locate the gear oil vent bolt, which we find near the transmission; we use a hex wrench to unscrew it, letting it drain the old oil in a container for about ten minutes. At this point we open the bonnet and remove the air intake sleeve, so as to be able to access the gearbox oil filling hole; then we fill up to the maximum level!
