Renault Laguna - Video tutorial
Model: Renault Laguna
X74, MK 2, Laguna 2
- Years 2001-2007 The parking brake, commonly referred to as the hand brake, is of particular importance. In fact, it is a good idea to rely on the parking brake when the car is parked especially on inclined roads, relying solely on the engagement of the gear could instead be a source of trouble if it inadvertently slips out of its seat. The perfect adjustment of the parking brake therefore allows a perfect locking of the rear wheels, the adjustment is made by means of a nut placed under the brake lever accessible by removing the rear part of the central tunnel. The adjustment system acts on the steel ropes that operate the brake shoes. The operation consists in adjusting the tension of these ropes making sure, however, that the brake at rest leaves the wheels perfectly free, otherwise, in addition to braking the vehicle, the brakes overheat until the brake linings burn.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford EcosportFirst remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base. by ScegliAuto More videos
