Cleaning Crankshaft Position Sensor
Model: Renault Clio
MK 2, Clio 2
- Years 1998-2005
Due to a malfunction of the crankshaft position sensor, the engine may not start, or it may turn over without firing, as if fuel is not reaching it. The issue is related to phase loss caused by the sensor. Before replacing the sensor, attempt to clean it. The sensor is located on the right side of the engine (when viewed from the front), just above the gearbox, and is secured with two bolts. Unscrew the securing bolts, remove the sensor from its housing, and disconnect the connector. Clean the sensor with WD40 spray and reinstall it. Start the engine; if it does not start, replace the sensor.
