In order to replace the front axle shaft, lift the car (on the bridge or on suitable car stands), remove the front wheel, the head of the steering box tie rod and that of the oscillating arm of the suspension: to extract the latter from its seat there is a special fork extractor. Once the hub has been released, unscrew the central fixing nut of the axle shaft, before removing the nut completely, knock on it to free the pin of the axle itself and then extract it completely first from the wheel side and finally from the gearbox side by levering with a screwdriver.
