How to Open the Rear Calipers on a Renault with Electric Handbrake

Here’s how to open the rear brake calipers on any Renault vehicle equipped with an electric handbrake. Position the car on a flat surface with the engine off. Turn on the ignition. Fully press the brake pedal and release the electric handbrake. Release the pedal. Then press it again while holding it down and simultaneously press the accelerator pedal to the floor. At this point, press the flashing handbrake button again. Press it once more to turn it off. A message will appear on the display indicating that the handbrake is fully released - which is what you want - so now you can change the brake pads. Once you have completed the job, get back in the car, turn on the ignition, hold down the brake and accelerator pedals, pull up the handbrake button, and now the calipers will reposition. Pull up a second time, and they will lock normally, indicated by the LED light.
