Replacing the timing belt of the Renault Modus

Model: Renault Modus MK 1 - Years 2004-2013
Part: Timing belt

To replace the belt it is necessary to open the bonnet, remove the plastic plate located above the front panel. Also remove the right front wheel and the mudguard and also remove the lower engine protection casing. At that point, working on the side where the wheel has been removed, locate the belt tensioner of the service belt and loosen it in order to extract the belt itself. Unscrew the retaining bolt of the belt tensioner and remove it. Return to the upper engine compartment and remove the right side engine mount fixing bolts. Then access the upper and side covers of the belt and remove them. Mark the relative position of the gear teeth of the camshaft and crankshaft with a felt-tip pen relative to the engine itself. Then proceed to disassemble the pulley of the lower service belt and then disassemble the belt tensioner of the timing belt. At this point it will be possible to extract the belt and replace it. Finally, reassemble all the components backwards respecting the sequence.
